Miami Beach spreads Halloween across five nights, and most of it is free. It starts tonight with a movie outside New World Center and peaks Saturday on Lincoln Road.
Tonight: The Addams Family under the stars
Wednesday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m.: The SoundScape Cinema Series shows the 1991 comedy The Addams Family in SoundScape Park, 400 17th St. It's free, rated PG-13 and runs 105 minutes on the New World Center's 7,000-square-foot wall.
Bring a blanket, chairs and a picnic. The series runs rain or shine, but the city says movies can be canceled in extreme weather. A coastal flood warning covers coastal Miami-Dade until 8 p.m., so check the city's movie calendar before you leave.
Friday: Horror shorts on the same wall
Friday, Oct. 30, 7 to 8 p.m.: FANGORIA Studios and the city present The Class of 2026 Horror Shorts in SoundScape Park. The two new PG-13 shorts, SQWUID and Geeks, were shot in Miami Beach with help from a city grant. Entry is free.
Saturday: The Lincoln Road Halloween Block Party
Saturday, Oct. 31: The promenade hosts what the city calls one of the largest Halloween parties in the country, according to its Halloween newsletter. It's free. The schedule:
- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Trick-or-treating for kids, with candy stations and face painting while supplies last.
- 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.: A live band, performers and DJs along the promenade.
- 9 p.m. to midnight: Wonderama plays live at Lenox Avenue.
Lincoln Road's event listing runs the night from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., so crowds may linger after the music.
Road closures and trolley detours
Starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, the city will close every cross street at Lincoln Road between Lincoln Lane South and Lincoln Lane North. That includes Lenox, Michigan, Jefferson, Meridian, Euclid, Pennsylvania and Drexel avenues. Local traffic can still reach garages and lots from 16th Street to Lincoln Lane South, and from Lincoln Lane North to 17th Street. Streets reopen after the party.
During the closures, the South Beach Loop A trolley runs along 16th Street between Alton Road and Washington Avenue. Loop B runs along 17th Street from Washington Avenue to Alton Road.
Parking: $1 an hour, last day
The city's $1-per-hour parking deal ends Saturday, Oct. 31. It covers city garages, lots and street spaces, but only when you pay with the ParkMobile app. Each session is capped at three hours. Enter the zone number, and the app shows a promo code.
More free and low-cost Halloween stops
Saturday, Oct. 31, 7 to 9 p.m.: Kids can get treats and photos with firefighters and trucks at four Miami Beach fire stations: 1051 Jefferson Ave., 2300 Pine Tree Drive, 5303 Collins Ave. and 6880 Indian Creek Drive. Each will have non-food treats for kids with food allergies, as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project.
Sunday, Nov. 1: O Cinema's Rocky Horror Picture Show night comes to the Miami Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., with a Day of the Dead theme. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7. Tickets are $42, and it's 18 and older.
