The long-planned west wing at Bal Harbour Shops is open for business, even as many stores still have opening dates ahead.

In a Nov. 3 announcement covered by PROFILEmiami and Florida YIMBY, Whitman Family Development said the two-level West Shops expansion adds about 200,000 square feet and is fully leased. Store openings will roll out through 2028.

What is new inside the wing

Announced newcomers include Tom Ford, KHAITE, Elie Saab and Boucheron. They join a roster that already includes Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Brioni. The expansion also gives some existing tenants room to move into larger spaces.

What Now Miami separately reported that Louis Vuitton is listed as opening soon on the first and second levels of the West Shops. The shops' own visitor updates page still points drivers to the 96th Street garage and other entrances while the campus adjusts.

Dining and sales figures

Dining is part of the pitch. The announcement highlights the return of Jeffrey Chodorow's China Grill and Stephen Starr's Slim's, which opened earlier this year, next to Carpaccio, Makoto and Avenue 31 Cafe. The property reports about $70 million a year in dining revenue.

Ownership also says annual gross sales are approaching $1 billion, up 35% since 2020, with sales productivity of $2,000 to $3,000 per square foot. Those figures come from the owner and cover the wider center, not just the new wing, PROFILEmiami and Red Sidewalks both note.

What is still only proposed

Separately, Whitman Family Development is still pursuing a mixed-use plan with market-rate homes, workforce rentals, a boutique hotel and more retail under Florida's Live Local Act. That plan is proposed, not approved, and has no construction date in the November announcement.
