Little River has a new reason to make plans beyond dinner: a working rum distillery with tours, guided tastings and a hidden bar on NW 71st Street.

Little River Distillery is at 73 NW 71st Street, Miami, FL 33150. Time Out listed its grand opening for October 16. The business now markets several ways to visit, from a walk through the production space to a seated rum flight.

The options have different prices and lengths. That gives visitors a choice between learning how the rum is made and settling in for a drink.

Start with the tour

The distillery tour starts at $45 per person and runs about 90 minutes, according to the operator. It includes a welcome cocktail, a guided visit to the stills and aging house, and a tasting of rums aged between one and eight years.

The stills are the equipment used to make the spirit. The aging house holds the barrels where rum develops over time. Seeing both gives the tour more of a production focus than a bar tasting.

The operator lists 12 seats per tour. A same-day bottle discount is also part of the offer. Reservations go through Tock, linked from the distillery’s website.

For a shorter visit, the seated tasting starts at $35 and lasts about an hour. That experience covers four rums aged one, three, five and eight years. The distillery describes using former bourbon, sherry and cognac casks, which give the tasting a way to compare how different barrels shape rum.

A bar built around rum

The September bar menu offers familiar drinks alongside house versions. Listed $16 signatures include El Pastelito, a clarified guava-and-cream-cheese daiquiri, and Thai-jito, a mojito with Thai basil.

Clear Libre uses clarified cola and lime. Beer Old Fashion pairs five-year rum with beer.

Classic mojitos and daiquiris are listed at $10. A separate $45 bar flight features three-, five- and eight-year rums with a sweet or salty pairing. That bar flight is a different offer from the four-rum seated tasting.

Behind the business are founders Kristjan Olafsson, José Pérez Cárdenas and Carlos Espasas, according to the distillery’s team page. Olafsson is also listed as master distiller. The company brings production, aging, blending and bottling together with hospitality at the same site.

For a planned outing, choose the experience first and reserve through the official visit page. The venue lists appointment-based visits, so checking the booking calendar is the clearest way to set a date before heading to Little River.
