Barnes & Noble is scheduled to open its Midtown Miami bookstore October 14 at 10 a.m. The store brings books, a café and an opening-day author visit to the former West Elm space at Collection at Midtown Miami.

The address is 3201 North Miami Avenue, Suite 111, across from Nordstrom Rack. The company says author L.J. Shen will cut the ribbon and sign copies of Fallen Rook.

Books are the main draw. Barnes & Noble says the shelves will also include toys, games, vinyl records, magazines, stationery and gifts. The company has announced Cat in the Hat storytime events for the opening weekend, but has not supplied exact times in its release.

A café is part of the plan. The property’s website describes a full-scale Barnes & Noble Café within the bookstore. That makes the space more than a quick retail stop: customers will have a place to get a drink during a book-shopping visit.

The store has been in the works for months. Commercial Observer reported the lease in December 2025, well before the opening date was announced. Its report, based on county records, described a 10-year deal with two five-year extension options.

The center offers a nearby option for families planning a longer stop. Its directory lists M Park as open, with an enclosed playground designed for children ages 2 through 12. The park has play structures, tables and benches. That is a separate stop from the bookstore’s planned storytimes.

Other changes at the center are still ahead. The directory lists CorePower Yoga as opening soon and La Boulangerie as coming soon. Those listings are plans, rather than open businesses.

For the bookstore launch, the useful details are the scheduled 10 a.m. opening, the North Miami Avenue address and Shen’s planned visit. Families coming for weekend storytime should check the store’s event listing before choosing a time. Regular hours and the full weekend schedule were not included in the opening announcement.
