Joe's Stone Crab has raised prices this season. Select claws now cost $64.95, large claws $79.95 and jumbo claws $139.95. The Miami Beach landmark's fried half chicken also jumped, from $8.95 to $14.95, the Miami Herald reported on Oct. 30.

How claw prices changed

In a September copy of its menu, Joe's listed select at $59.95, large at $74.95 and jumbo at $129.95. Select and large each rose $5, about 8% and 7%. Jumbo rose $10, about 8%. Medium stayed at $49.95. A Take Away menu dated Oct. 14 already shows the new prices.

Last fall looked different. The Herald reported on Oct. 25, 2025 that Joe's charged $84.95 for large, $134.95 for jumbo and $59.95 for select. Medium was $49.95 for takeout when available. Against that start, select and jumbo are up $5 each and large is down $5. By March, a Take Away menu had large at $79.95 and jumbo at $129.95.

The Joe's Classic add-on rose too. It brings coleslaw, hashed brown potatoes, creamed spinach and a slice of key lime pie. It now adds $34.95 to an order, up from $30.

Why claw prices move

Joe's says claw prices follow the docks. "We set the price based on what the fishermen charge us," its pricing page says. The page adds that when stone crabs are plentiful, "the price goes down; when they're scarce, the price goes up." Joe's calls its claw price "market price," so the numbers can change during the season.

Costs for fishermen are up, the Herald reported in October. Diesel fuel costs more than last season. So do the pigs feet that fishermen use as bait. The same story said fishermen were seeing lots of crabs.

The chicken price

Owner and CEO Stephen Sawitz told the Herald that restaurant and food costs keep climbing. He called the chicken change "a very difficult and much debated decision." By his estimate, Joe's sells more than 85,000 half chickens a season.

"I didn't want to raise the price of stone crabs or anything else," Sawitz said. Joe's menu now lists higher select, large and jumbo claw prices than it did in September.

Planning your visit

Joe's reopened Oct. 16 for its 114th season, WSVN reported. Valet parking costs $15 at lunch and $25 at dinner Monday to Thursday. It costs $25 at both meals Friday to Sunday. Limited free self-parking is across the street. A cancellation less than 24 hours ahead, or a no-show, costs $25 per person.
